Our Story
The Perfect Partnership
A furloughed airline pilot, skilled pastry chef and the desire to build a business started Tahner Friedley and Enrico Caparas on the path to creating Fuzion Donuts. It actually started as Fuzion Bakery before several books on business and marketing guided us into Fuzion Donuts. We didn’t want to be generalists making a wide variety of products. If you want the best donut come to the place that does nothing else and works every day to perfect them. With the plan set we had to begin. Covid was still around us in Dec 2021 so we decided to take over a bakery in a central location where we could offer delivery. We also started attending markets in and around the city.
Markets
The Downtown Edmonton Farmer’s market was the first market that we attended. What a great way for us to perfect our process and learn what the market preferred. From there we expanded to Bountiful Farmer’s Market, Old Strathcona, St. Albert, Collingwood, 124st Night market and many other boutique markets in and around the city. Not only did this help get our name into the market, it also let us test over 100 different donut combinations and select the ones that resonated the most with the market.
Testing
Since we didn’t have a store front we were limited with what we could offer delivery customers. We decided to create 12 flavors and have set boxes. Just like a box of chocolates there were flavors you may have never tried before. Each month we would have 12 all new flavors. It was a lot of fun coming up with new and exciting things. Chipotle Chocolate, Pistachio Rose, Guava Jelly. Those didn’t making the current menu but others did like our signature Crème Brulee, Root Beer Float, Lychee Raspberry, Ube. As the months passed we would listen to customer’s feedback and slowly narrow down our offering.
First Store
After about 8 months into business we decided the time was right to start looking for a store front location. We wanted to bring the Coffee and donuts shop back to the market. Offering up a wide selection with 27 different donuts in three distinct price tiers. Cake donuts, yeast donuts, jelly filled, cream filled. We have a wide range of options to suit your preference. The other big change we made was offering a mix of rotating and permanent flavors. Some donuts are big fan favorites and you can always come in to get one. We still like to have fun and be creative so we will rotate some flavors on the 1st of every month.
Expansion
Now that we have all our processes in place and a solid team to build off we want to bring our donuts to as many people as we can. Our second store opened in the new year of 2024.
